JD Senkbile

JD met his wife Michele, a born and bred Capetonian/South African, at university in Chicago. After studying, they moved to Nebraska where JD worked as a youth pastor before moving to Omaha, to help plant Coram Deo Church. In 2008, JD moved his family to Cape Town where he now serves as the Acts 29 Network’s director for church planting in Africa.

In the spring of 2009 JD gathered a small band of people to start envisioning the start of a new church in the heart of Cape Town’s city bowl district. This was the beginning of VOX City Church.

JD serves as the lead elder of VOX and his primary roles are preaching, vision, strategy and leadership development. In his spare time, you will find JD playing with his kids, watching a movie with his wife, or grabbing a surf. JD’s greatest passion is that people would experience the fullness of the Gospel.

john200John Scheepers

John is married to Jo-ann, and his greatest achievement is getting his wife to love test cricket.  A proud, passionate, born and bred Capetonian, John’s greatest task is to raise his son, Nathan to be a man who loves Jesus, dreams Kingdom dreams and lays down his life to serve the outcasts and sinners. Since 1998, John has served as youth or assistant pastor, in a number of churches in Cape Townand the UK.  As well as four years of campus ministry on the Cape Peninsula University of Technology campus.

In a heavily divided city, John longs to see the church bring people of different races and socio-economic contexts together because of and in the cause of the gospel.  Passionate about social justice, racial reconciliation and pursuing the mission of Christ in community. Like all true Capetonians, John loves being on the mountain, playing touch rugby on the beach and long, lazy summer evenings.  And if you see the sidestep on his son you know he will make his dad proud at scrumhalf for the Stormers one day.
